COVID-19 Employer Information
COVID-19 Employer Information
The COVID-19 global pandemic has created unprecedented economic conditions and concerns to our industries, businesses and workforces. Information is rapidly evolving, and at times conflicting and overwhelming to say the least. Still in the early stages, there are many unanswered questions about the short- and long-term health effects of this disease, it’s potential recurrence, the availability of an effective vaccine and how employers need to prepare going forward.
Compliance
Safety and health compliance during this pandemic have created several immediate concerns for both private and public sector employers.
Among them:
- Administrative control limitations such as social distancing
- Recordkeeping
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) supply, limitations and substitutions
The Occupational Safety & Health Administration, OSHA, also finds itself in unprecedented territory, and understands the challenges now and ahead for both its administration and employers alike. However, OSHA has created resources available for guidance that employers need to be aware of and consult routinely. They include:
- OSHA COVID-19 Website
- OSHA Publication 3990, Guidance for Preparing Workplaces for COVID-19
- OSHA Temporary Enforcement Guidance - Healthcare Respiratory Protection Annual Fit-Testing for N95 Filtering Facepieces During the COVID-19 Outbreak Memo
- OSHA Interim Enforcement Guidance for Recording Cases of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Memo
